OXFORD is a University city in Oxfordshire England. Most of the Colleges are in the City centre.,some have visits to the grounds. I visited Balliol College. Oxford is 56 miles from London on a good rail route. The confluence of the rivers Thames and Cherwell is nearby. Four British Prime Ministers, H.Asquith, Edward Heath, Harold Macmillan and Boris Johnson attended Oxford Universities. I"m an ex Secondary Modern School lad and didn"t feel out of place ! I had a meal in the Mitre Pub along with a pint of beer. The Mitre is said to be one of the oldest pubs in Oxford. I was staying at the Westgate Hotel near the rail station.for two nights. While in Oxford i fitted in a trip to Banbury. l
